We are delighted to announce that we are a number of weeks into a new and successful initiative here at The Comp called 'the Cara mentoring programme’.
Ms Akers, the mentoring Co-ordinator, has teamed up with Thomas O’Hara from Clare Youth Services and have provided training to equip 25 of our 5th year students with the skills required to run such a programme. The Cara mentoring provides extra support for all first years settling into Comp life. Every Wednesday at lunch time at 1.25pm, our fantastic team of 5th years arrange and carry out a variety of ice breakers, games and activities for first years to take part in. It is done in a very relaxed atmosphere in room 9 and 10 and all first years are encouraged to join and have some fun. We are incredibly grateful to our 25 volunteer mentors from 5th year and Ms. Akers for organising this programme for our first years. |
Thank you
Thomas O Hara from Clare Youth Service and Ms. Akers met the 5th year mentors for a working lunch. Whilst enjoying their Pizza Party, they brainstormed what the mentoring program has meant to them so far, what has worked well and strategies on how it can be improved. This dedicated group of mentors meet 1st year students every Wednesday during their lunch times, engage in activities and offer support. They have taken their leadership roles very seriously. Thank you to all involved in the Cara Mentoring Programme! Clare Youth Service
