Bláth is a new whole school project for our 2021/2022 school year. The project will be spearheaded by our Transition Year and LCA students who aim to create a space for our school community. We aim to make a garden for all the senses that will promote biodiversity and be a sanctuary to all who go to it. Located next to our astroturf pitch which is currently being refurbished by Ei Electronics, it is a central spot in our school and can be enjoyed by all. We have lots of plans for Bláth and we will keep you updated on it all as we work on it. Some of our plans include: - Planting of flowers and trees to promote biodiversity. - Harvesting of rainwater. - Building of nest boxes and feeders for birds. - Creation of windchimes and sounds within the garden. - An area for meditation and relaxation. - Growing fruit, vegetables and herbs. - Creating insect homes. - Building an outdoor classroom for all to enjoy nature. - A space for artists to create. - & so much more!
We would love to get help and support from our local community! Have you some expertise you can offer? Would you like to sponsor an element of the garden? Have you seeds/bulbs/plants you would like to donate? Would you like to build something to go in our sensory garden? If so, please get in touch through the form below! Thanking you in advance for supporting our school community.
COMPETITION TIME! - design an area of our sensory garden.
We would love to have the input of lots of our school community on the design of our sensory garden - Bláth. With that in mind, we are asking for people to design a section to be included in our garden! Check out the poster here to see all the details to enter. Consider the categories on the poster before entering. Imagine that your design could be a feature of our beautiful new garden. The aim is to have as many sections from different people as possible that will culminate in a beautiful sensory garden that will be an oasis for us all!
Students and staff can enter via the link here: https://bit.ly/30H5edC or the QR Code on the posters displayed in school. All other entries can be sent in via email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line 'Sensory Garden'. We ask permission to use your first name in our garden on display or on social media. Details are also on our website. Happy designing!!!
