The Comp goes green

We are incredibly proud of our students and staff here at The Comp.
Our Green School Committee have been working hard on a new project; to reduce the use of single-use plastic in our school. This will help lessen the impact of global warming and plastic pollution around the world as a single water bottle takes 450 years to decompose in the environment! Join the cause and follow CompGoesGreen instagram page. #compgoesgreen

Plastic Pollution Workshops

Remember to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our #CompGoesGreen students are busy giving their plastic pollution workshops and continue to spread their message. They will be selling their comp-tastic bottles and beeswax wraps at The Comp Christmas Market so be on the look out 👀 Our water refill stations should be in by next Wednesday and bottles by the end of the month so get ready for a greener comp! 💚 #compgoesgreen ♻️

Thank you!

We want to say a massive thank you to local company ‘Made for Stage Limited’ for their generous support of our #compgoesgreen initiative. They have kindly sponsored us a drinking water and bottle filling station. Not only that but they have also provided funding to kickstart our reusable water bottles. The lads at ‘Made for Stage Limited’ have always been very charitable with their support to The Comp in the past which just makes this thoughtful gesture even more special. Thank you for helping us in our journey to go single use plastic free!

Thanks to Refill Ireland who are supplying our comp-tastic water bottles and our two hydration stations. You can also find the tap map on their website and get free water at any of their places on the map.

New Water Refill Stations

Our water refill stations have taken pride of place in our new canteen and are getting plenty of use! We are so proud to see so many of our stainless steel thermal bottles being used throughout our school community. We are making a big impact already by going single use plastic free and we hope to bring our campaign even further afield in the coming weeks and months. Thank you for all the support in our environmental endeavour to date. #CompGoesGreen @seai_schools SEAI #SEAIonegoodidea

#CompGoesGreen at The Christmas Market

Our #CompGoesGreen initiative and students continue to make us proud! Not only did they order and supply the bottles at our market but they also made the beeswax wraps. Along with that they recycled an old pallet to make their stall. The Spinis from SPIN South West even popped over to see their good work! Well done on all that you are doing to make the school a greener one. SEAI #SEAIonegoodidea

Delph Drive

We are in the process of going ‘single use plastic’ free in our canteen. In order to replace the plastic here we are doing a ‘Delph Drive’ as part of the #CompGoesGreen Campaign. Please help by donating any unwanted delph to the box provided in the front reception.
Please submit donations by Thursday the 19th of December.

Primary School Workshops

We are incredibly proud of our environmental activists here in The Comp. Our #CompGoesGreen group have been busy spreading their message to students in St. Aidan’s National School today. Although already on holidays, these dedicated TYs made it their mission to continue to campaign about their message regarding single use plastic. Today they delivered their Plastic Pollution Workshop to the inquiring minds in 4th class. They made Christmas crackers with the students containing jokes and non-plastic toys inside to help raise awareness on the need to reduce the use of plastic. We are incredibly grateful to the students and staff of St. Aidan’s NS for welcoming and supporting our students in this initiative.
