Letter received today from DES:
"Further to the Department’s letter of 5th May to school principals, it has come to the attention of the Department that some post primary schools have/or are planning to have end of year celebrations that potentially undermine current public health guidelines.
Schools should not have end of year graduations ceremonies for sixth year students in whole year groups or facilitate the attendance of parents or other family members either on the school premises or in any other locations.
It is very important not to carry out any activities that may put sixth year students at risk of exposure to COVID-19 particularly in the last remaining days before the commencement of the Leaving Certificate examinations. Schools should also strongly encourage students to act responsibly and not to attend any social events such as ‘raves’ or other events leading to large congregations or smaller events in houses which greatly increase the risk of spreading COVID-19."

STEM DOCUMENTARY
A really interesting mini-documentary here featuring young people in STEM. We are very proud to see past pupil Elora amongst them. It is a great source of pride to us that we have a long history of students pursuing careers in STEM and we hope that continues long in to the future.
Condolences
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of a beloved member of our school community, Mrs. Eileen Garvey. We send our deepest condolences to Clem and all the family.
A guard of honour comprising teachers, past pupils, Non Nobis Domine Choir & Shannon Musical Society members will be formed outside St. Patrick's Comprehensive School on this Tuesday (9th of February) at 10.20 am. Cortège will pass on its way to Church of St. John & Paul for 11.00 a.m. Mass, available to view on www.shannonparish.ie/webcam. Face coverings & social distancing to be observed. |
LAPTOP LOAN SCHEMEPlease note that our Laptop Loan Scheme has now closed. We were fortunate to be in a position to have a number of portable devices that could be used by students while online learning took place. We have now given out 50 laptops to students who needed the extra assistance with technology during remote learning.
