Canteen
The school canteen will be operated by the school for the 2019/2020 academic year. The Breakfast Club will operate from 8.30am every morning providing complimentary tea/coffee/milk and toast to students with the generous support of the Parents Association. At break-times the canteen will offer a range of drinks (no fizzy drinks) and snacks. At lunchtime there will be sandwiches, rolls, paninis and toasted sandwiches available as well as tea/coffee and soup. The canteen will also open briefly at the end of school each day to accommodate students accessing After School Study. Please remember that all revenue earned in the canteen after costs will be invested in facilities for students in the school so we encourage you to support this facility. |
Library
St. Patrick's Comprehensive School has a fully functioning school library. It is widely used by the school community. It's primary function is that of a working library with over 10,000 books in circulation. Our library is staffed throughout the school day and has a modern computerised system for the borrowing and returning of books. It is also a hub of school activities and hosts many of our guests, workshops, seminars and other various activities. It boasts an interactive whiteboard to allow for full screen presentations. We proudly display various works created by our students over the years. At break and lunchtime it is a hive of activity as students use it as a multifunctional space. A number of computers are available for students to use and a printing function is provided with the aid of our staff. Headphones are also provided for students wishing to listen to music. The various seating areas are used for students to chat with friends, complete school work and play with the board games we provide. A number of dedicated chess stations are available for students to both learn and enhance their chess moves. |
I.T and computers
A major upgrading of the technology infrastructure took place during the summer.
- For the first time Wi-Fi was installed in the school - upgrading of the electrics in the near future will facilitate the extension of wifi throughout the school.
- Desktop computers were upgraded
- Two trolleys with laptops were purchased for use in classrooms. This is the first step to the development of virtual computer rooms and moving to use technology in a more comprehensive way in teaching and learning.
- All students have access to Office 365 in school and at home - a platform which facilitates the provision of resources and homework for students and allows teachers and students to actively engage with technology for teaching and learning.
